Sliding Scale Tuition Model
An independent school education is a significant and worthwhile investment in the future of your child. We serve a wide range of economically diverse families and are devoted to making a West Sound Academy education as accessible as possible through our sliding scale tuition model. Each year, the board of trustees sets aside approximately $1 million to support offering a sliding scale tuition model.
Key Points of this Model:
- Applying for sliding scale tuition placement is optional.
- If a family does not apply, they will pay the maximum tuition.
- If applying, the tuition a family pays is based on the financial information provided as well as available school resources.
- Families must apply annually for sliding scale tuition placement.
Commitment to making WSA affordable
Tuition does not cover the full expense of a West Sound Academy education. As an independent school, West Sound Academy does not receive any federal or state funding and relies solely on tuition, program revenue, and fundraising to operate. We offer sliding scale tuition because we want West Sound Academy to benefit from the unique presence of your child. We are thankful to all the families who entrust their child’s educational journey to us.
Application and Deadline
Admissions applications are submitted online through our WSA Parent Portal and are now being accepted on a rolling admissions basis. The priority deadline to submit applications for the next school year is February 15. We will continue to accept applications after that date as space in each grade allows.
If a family is applying for sliding scale tuition, the admissions application is not considered complete until the sliding scale application is finished as well. We will not accept a sliding scale tuition application without an admissions application.
While the school makes a generous commitment to offering a sliding scale tuition model, the budget is finite, so we encourage families to apply and accept an offer of enrollment as soon as possible.
Applying for Sliding Scale Tuition
To apply for sliding scale tuition placement, a family must complete the online sliding scale tuition application through Clarity, an independent third party. This application is also available within the admissions application checklist.
Clarity offers a streamlined, mobile-friendly application that can be completed in as short a time as 20 minutes. Additionally, Clarity removes the need to upload your tax documents by transferring them directly from the IRS. This reduces the amount of information that you will need to enter manually and makes it possible to complete the application quickly and efficiently. There is a $60 fee to submit the sliding scale application.
