Declaration Day 2023: Graduating seniors announce their fall plans

West Sound Academy seniors have finished all of their exams, submitted the last few assignments to Google Classroom, and have returned their library books. They have picked up their caps, gowns, and stoles for the commencement ceremony. All that was left to do on May 26, the day before graduation, was for them to declare to the WSA community their post-graduation plans. So WSA’s 22nd class of graduates, the seniors of 2022-2023, returned to campus to pick up their honor cords and attend their last all-school assembly. They donned their graduation regalia and walked to the amphitheater, where WSA’s students and staff were waiting. Each soon-to-be alum made a declaration of their fall plans, then signed the pennant for their chosen college or university, or the appropriate international flag for those traveling abroad.
The seniors shared the stage with "Planes of Existence,", an acrylic on canvas mural based on Voronoi diagrams, created by their fellow graduate Chayton Martinez in collaboration with art teacher Sara Adams and math teacher Ben Owens. Martinez wanted one last collaboration with members of his class, so he made sure every senior helped with the painting of the 4' x 6' mural.
This class has shown flexibility and resilience during high school years that were a mix of remote, hybrid, and in-person classroom learning. Now they are off to college and other adventures. The twelve members of the Class of 2023 have been accepted at 24 four-year colleges and universities in the US, and have been offered $1,078,356 in scholarships and grants. Congratulations to all!

The class of 2023 was also admitted to the 16 colleges and universities listed below.
