Meet the WSA Student Ambassadors: Building Leadership, Connection, and Belonging

WSA Student Ambassadors at their inaugural lunch in September, 2026

At West Sound Academy, some of the best people to tell the story of what it means to be a WSA student are the students themselves.

This year, we’re excited to launch our 2026-2027 Student Ambassador Program, a new leadership opportunity designed to give students a meaningful role in welcoming prospective students and families into our community.

The program brings together students who are enthusiastic about WSA and willing to share their experiences—what they love about their classes, what makes our community special, what they’ve learned along the way, and what it really feels like to be a student here.

More Than a Tour Guide

Our Student Ambassadors will serve as an important part of the admissions experience throughout the school year.

Ambassadors will help welcome prospective families at school events, serve as Middle School Shadow Day hosts, and help lead Upper School tours. They’ll have opportunities to answer questions, introduce visitors to other students and faculty, and help prospective students picture themselves as part of the WSA community.

But the role is about much more than knowing where the classrooms are.

Our ambassadors are being prepared to represent the qualities we value in our students: being welcoming, authentic, inclusive, curious, responsible, and helpful.

Most importantly, we want our ambassadors to share their real experiences. There’s no script for what it means to be a WSA student. Every student’s journey is different, and that authenticity is one of the most valuable things they can offer a prospective family.

Learning to Lead

The Ambassador Program is also an opportunity for students to grow as leaders.

Welcoming a new family, answering a prospective student’s questions, speaking with adults, leading a tour, or helping a younger student navigate a shadow day are all experiences that require confidence, communication, empathy, and responsibility.

These are skills that extend well beyond the school day.

At WSA, we believe leadership isn’t simply about having a title. It’s about being willing to step forward, help others feel comfortable, take responsibility, and contribute to the community around you.

The Student Ambassador Program gives students a chance to do exactly that.

Starting the Year Together

The program officially got underway with our inaugural Student Ambassador Welcome Lunch, bringing the first group of ambassadors together at the beginning of the school year.

Over lunch, students had a chance to get to know one another, talk about their new roles, and begin thinking about what it means to represent West Sound Academy.

The lunch was the first step in building a team of students who can support one another while helping future WSA families experience the same sense of welcome that makes our community special.

And, of course, there was plenty of pizza, conversation and laughter.

A Student's Perspective Matters

Choosing a school is a big decision for any family. Prospective students and parents have questions that only another student can truly answer:

  • What is it really like to go to school here?
  • What are the teachers like?
  • How easy is it to make friends?
  • What happens when a class is challenging?
  • What do students actually do outside the classroom?
  • What makes WSA different from other schools?

Our ambassadors can answer those questions from experience.

They can talk about the moments that surprised them, the challenges that helped them grow, the teachers who made an impact, the friendships they’ve formed, and the opportunities they’ve discovered.

That student-to-student connection can make all the difference for a family visiting a school for the first time.

Welcome to the Team!

We’re proud of the students who have stepped forward to become the first WSA Student Ambassadors, and we’re excited to see how they grow in this new role.

Throughout the year, they’ll help prospective students and families get a genuine look at life at West Sound Academy—not through a brochure or a marketing message, but through the eyes of the students who experience it every day.

Because sometimes the best way to understand a school is to spend time with the people who call it home.
