Forrest earned his bachelor’s degree in English from Earlham College and then completed two years of service with an AmeriCorps teaching program. After an 18-year hiatus from teaching during which Forrest was a chef in the Vancouver/Portland area, Forrest returned to school at Washington State University, Vancouver to earn his master’s degree in teaching in 2017.

Since then he has been teaching in the Taholah School District on the Quinault Reservation. He is deeply commited to developing meaningful, authentic relationships with his students based on respect and compassion and is devoted to designing creative, project-based curriculum. Forrest has taught a wide variety of subjects including electives like storytelling, yearbook, and photography.
