West Sound Theatre Company presents: The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon
West Sound Theatre Company presents the wacky sideways fairytales of The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon by playwright Dan Zolidis, May 13 & 14, 2022. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7 PM in the West Sound Academy Commons.
Happy ever after was never like this! The fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm are turned on their heads as actors who have just arrived to perform a show attempt to combine all 209 stories into one spectacular yarn! This fast-paced, rollicking tale romps through classics like Snow White and Cinderella (as well as more obscure stories like The Fish Girl and The Crab People) from “Once upon a time” all the way to “happily ever after”…we hope! This wild, free-form comedy, with madcap fun and lots of audience participation, will run for just over one hour on the Commons stage. Every performance also features an opportunity to meet and mingle with the actors after the show!
“This is different from our usual shows,” admits Gretchen Nordleaf, director of the production. “This past fall we produced Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play just in case we needed to go virtual. After the two pandemic years and having devised and produced two radio plays virtually, we decided that everyone really needs something lighthearted and fun, where the whole family can laugh, have a good time, and just enjoy live theatre again. The two-plus-year intermission of live theatre is finally over.” Adds Nordleaf, “We can’t wait to welcome audiences back!”
The cast of The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon includes actors familiar to WSA audiences: Mad Prasch, Kieran Merrifield-Peterman, Lollie Wines, and Abbi Parks who were all members of the ensemble for Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Play. New to the live theatre stage at West Sound Academy are Nascha Martinez and Mack Miller.
